New Kids in CBR Pom Pom Island
Posted by: SSS
3rd day morning 2 dives to Timba Timba Island where to show the kids how healthy the reefs are?? During the whole trip we did show them where the reefs damaged cause by an illegal fish bomb method done by irresponsibility human being before. We were lucky on the whole duration trip not heard any fish bombing sound underwater. It is the time now we need to seriously look into the matter on unhealthy fishing methods done by our local fisherman. We need to come out the best solution to guide the fisherman and the most importance thing we need to regeneration back the reefs by doing transplanting Corals. Transplant Corals normally done Dive Underwater but have you ever done it from Skin Dive?? Will show NEXTnextNEXT on Transplant Corals in CBR, Pom Pom Island.
On the 2nd dive we did saw 2 Crown of Thorny eaten half the small Table Coral but later both were been remove to deep water. We did carefully remove a used rubbish bag tied on branching Corals and special thanks to Tatyana for all the big help!!!
On the afternoon dive around Pom Pom Island, Alex group with all the Junior Divers witness the fighting of 2 Rock Scorpion Fishes – 2 Males bites on each other lips and never let go until one will give up!!! Ann the teacher has took the pictures of it’s behavior and will show the pictures NEXTnext!!! Below pictures show the 4th day Dives to Matabuan Island and visited the Giant Clam Research Center at Bohaydulang Island. Next pictures story will talk more on Tun Sakaran Marine Park, Off Semporna. “Thank you!!!”

The International School of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia leaded by their Middle School Principal – Michael Callan, the teachers – Ann & Matthew and the 14 kids – Anne, Sophia, Tatyana, Emma, Ashka, Andrew, Iman, Moonlan, Alexandra, Clara, Jamie, Sidney, Dzaim & Andrew Lobo visited Celebes Beach Resort (CBR), Pom Pom Island on the 15th – 19th April 2012. Their 5D4N dive trip was arranged by Sulawesi Sea Safari. Alex & Leonard were their special Dive Guides during their stay.
1st day was welcome by the CBR dive crews and we all dive the House Reef in front of the resort. 2nd day the morning 2 dives was to Mataking Island where we encounter million of tiny brown look alike lantern Jellyfishes on the surface. Most jellyfish stings are not deadly, but stings of some species such as the famous Box Jellyfish can be deadly. Touching or being touched by a jellyfish can be very uncomfortable, sometimes requiring medical assistance. Sting effects range from no effect to extreme pain to death. Vinegar is a common remedy to help with jellyfish stings. Most of us was been stung on the surface and was not too bad but Alex was the worst experience the itches on the skin. In the afternoon dive at Pom Pom Island, we had 2 persons experience attack by the Trigger fish but was not the serious bites. (Thanks God!!) The trigger fishes attack divers was due to it protect nesting period.
This was marine education dive and the kids were been brief what to look out for and what to care for. Knowing the marine life underwater and can help to care for the Reefs and involved in Marine Conservation project. Below pictures was all taken by Leonard, the early story pictures was taken by Alex and we divided into 2 group for the kids. We were all really have the good times and the fun of diving. More pictures will upload after this!!! Please Do EnJoY View!!!
